As our feet are firmly set in Fall, Social Action invites congregation members to step into “Thanks Giving”. We are sponsoring the collection of items needed to help a local partner, clients at the Department of Human Services (DHS) located just behind Grocery Outlet. Please download the Thanks Giving list here (or see the list below).
Social Action recently reconnected with Kim Haines and Leah Moore at DHS; they manage volunteer coordination. DHS has a Client Needs Program with three types of suggested items.
First, children and adults coming in for services are often hungry. Having nutritious snacks available during the wait and contact with professionals can be calming. Thanks to Leslie Munson for helping to develop the snack list for children.
Second, clients often need non-perishable food to tide them over for 2-3 days. (This need is like that of the Green Bags.}
Third, there are items not covered under the SNAP program including diapers and wipes. Also welcome are clothes in good
condition for school age children. Please bag your donation and put it in the designated barrel in the Lower Narthex or call to
arrange pickup.
