Shepherds is a new way for us to serve our congregation. Members of our congregation generously give of their energy working for others, and at the same time, we act as family for fellow members and visitors. Our care for each other is great, but some of us who are quieter, may not know we care. Deacons and our pastors are starting a new Program called Shepherds. We encourage members to volunteer to care for a portion of the membership by sending birthday cards, care cards, calling in times of need and being shepherds for each other. Our goal is to have enough volunteers to have at most ten members for each volunteer. We notice when someone is absent, and we notice when someone in our church family is in need of help. Shepherds will help us do a more thorough job of acting as a caring family.
We will start the program when we have enough volunteers to make the number we each care for do-able. Then we will have a short training to be certain we all understand the program goals and processes.
We already keep track of those we know well. Let’s stretch out and become Shepherds for a few more people that we would love to know better. To volunteer, call or email Paulette Mixon-Weller at Paulette@rosecitypark.org or Deacon chairs, Susan Price or Rae Richen .
